Rally to Defend Public Education - Sep 24 - San Diego, CA

Rally Poster

The International Students for Social Equality is calling a public rally at San Diego State University for Thursday, September 24. On this day, professors and students in the UC system are also staging a one-day walk-out.

The rally will call for:
• No faculty and staff layoffs! No tuition and fee increases!
• Affordable, quality education for all!
• An end to cuts to all social programs, including healthcare!
• An emergency public works program against unemployment!
• Break with the Democrats and Republicans!
• The unity of workers in the US and around the world!

Students, staff, professors and workers at SDSU must make their voices heard in opposition to the attack on public education.

The cuts are the result of the agreement by both Democrats and Republicans in the state legislature to deal with the budget crisis by attacking social programs. The Obama administration repeatedly refused to bail out California and other states, even as the federal government handed out trillions to the banks.

This rally and teach-in are called to express the growing opposition to this attack, and to discuss the political basis for renewed struggle.
